Character Name: Molly Hooper
Canon: Sherlock BBC
Canon Point: S2E3: Before her final talk with Sherlock
Is your character Dead, Undead or Alive: Alive
History: Her Wiki
Personality:
One of the things that stands out about Molly is that she is an extremely hard worker. She is described as “Little Miss Perfect” by her friends and it suggest that she can do anything she wants. In canon, working in the morgue is no easy task, she had to study really hard to get it. Since she's also a hard worker, she is also stubborn once she puts her mind to it. After all, for most of season one and two, she held the belief that one day Sherlock would notice her. Although her many attempts failed, she was persistent in pursuing him. With that said, Molly is pretty loyal and pretty patient to those who she cares about. Even after Sherlock kept insulting her, she was still by his side even when Moriarty tried to discredit him. This is proven once again when Sherlock asked her to do an examination of Irene's body, she went out of her way to do it for him. When she dated Moriarty for a short period, she was protective of him despite not knowing what his true identity is. She is able to put up with both Sherlock and Moriarty, she is the definition of patience.
On that note, since Molly is so loyal to her friends, she can viewed as selfless. We don't know how much Molly was involved with Sherlock's 'death' but she was willing to push aside her own thoughts and concerns for his sake. He said that he was going to die and Molly said “What do you need?”
Another thing that stands out about Molly is that she is passive but she is also assertive in her own way. Since she is “Little Miss Perfect”, she had to be pretty firm about what she wanted to do. She mentioned in her blog that Sherlock was the only man that is letting him walk over her; she would ever do that to another man. However, even though she can be a doormat, there were some hints that she can be assertive. One would be in the “The Blind Banker” where Sherlock wanted to look at some bodies. Her response was “Well, their paperwork has already gone through” meaning that she didn't want to go through with the extra work. In “The Reichenbach Fall”, she told Sherlock she had a lunch date when he wanted to talk to her about Moriarty. However, the most obvious case is when she finally told him that he was beinga douche a jerk for saying nothing but mean things to her in “A Scandal in Belgravia”.
Molly is someone who often looks to the brighter side of things. While her pursue of Sherlock might seem like hopeless to some, she still kept a pretty optimistic view that one day he would notice her. In addition, every time that Sherlock said something insulting, she would simply think to herself that it would be worth it in the end. In many cases, she was reassuring herself that everything would be okay. Once she found out who Moriarty was, she said that she has to be positive. No one wants to see a sad person working in a morgue.
Finally, Molly can be pretty perceptive of people's emotions. In “The Reichenbach Fall”, Molly called out Sherlock that he was feeling sad when he denied it himself. She even said that he was feeling sad when John wouldn't be there to see him.
Despite all these positive things about her, there are some obvious flaws. One of which is that since she's so selfless and loyal, it could lead her into protecting the wrong person. After all, she trusted Moriarty and things turned out for the worst. It would be not surprising that she might have some trust issues after what happened. She is someone that keeps on smiling because, like she said “no one likes to see a sad person in a morgue”. She is smiling because she has to be and her own emotions don't matter. She even told Sherlock that she “doesn't count” Speaking of which, Molly doesn't have the best self-esteem in the world. With Sherlock constant remarks, it would not be surprising that her confidence is at a low. In addition, Molly is kind of socially awkward. Some of the things she says are often led her into some awkward situations with people.
One more minor thing to note on that should be said, Molly is a bit lonely. Outside of "Jim", who happened to be Moriarty, she was the only one who comments to her own blog. In "A Scandal in Belgravia", she mentioned that she didn't have any plans on Christmas. While she is able to befriend people easily, it seems like she doesn't have anyone who is close to her.

In a lot of ways, Molly often wondered why her life was as miserable as they come. After all, she was a woman who never asked for much. She was someone who had a high paying job, a decent place to live in, and people who cared about her. For what she has, she was perfectly fine with it. However, that didn't stop her from wondering why she couldn't be a little bit happier than what she was feeling right now. She should go after the love of her love, she should put her own interest before others, and so on. While those thoughts did cross her mind, she just wasn't that type of person. As long as she could help out, that's all that mattered. Of course, that thinking didn't always help her already low self-esteem. It was kind of funny, she thought to herself. For someone who never asked for much, life sure had an interesting way of telling her that she should be a little bit more selfish.
As she found herself gripping the doorknob, she couldn't help but feel a little nervous as to what was to come. Being in a strange place with no idea where she was, she dared not to find out what lurked behind that door. Whatever was going on, her first thought immediately wondered if it was related to Sherlock. She had always known that working in the morgue was not always the ideal job and especially when crime was involved. And yet, she also knew that being associated with a man of his status would put herself in danger. Despite that, she did have to wonder if she did have to wonder how someone was able to knock her out when she was about to go back home. At least, she was sure that was how it went. Regardless, she also couldn't help but wonder. If she had been kidnapped, who else would be involved? Was any of her co-workers okay? What about Sherlock himself? Or his best friend, John? Or anyone else involved with Sherlock? Goodness, they weren't tortured were they?!
Despite these thoughts running through her head, Molly still found herself being afraid of opening the door. She couldn't stare at her own hand before smiling sadly. How sad, she couldn't be a little bit more braver compared to a few people in her life. Even though she might be putting herself in danger by working in the morgue, her life was still fairly quiet. Most of the time, she would just spend most of her days in the laboratory and that was it. Compared to Sherlock and John, who was more into detective work, she would much rather stay back in the sidelines. Then again, she thought, it might explain why she didn't count compared to them...
Then again, she still had a choice to make. She could either go help them out while she can or she can just wait until someone came to get her. She could be a little selfish couldn't she? Couldn't she prove to them that she did count after all?
With a mumble, she finally opened the door. However, what she found surprised her. It seemed that she needed to be a lot more braver than she thought.
